Oh the irony of it all. They call me a snow-bird back home in Anchorage for having left the sub-zero weather of Alaska for sunny California. But today my truck is parked of the side of highway 79, which is closed for 5 to 6 hours, while power line crews clear a tree that fell across the highway and onto the powerlines. So I walked home, and while my batteries hold I can post this online. Luckily I made a trip to the liquor store and the library yesterday so I'm all set.
Now if I get tired of not having power in my apartment, I could hitch a ride into town and have all the creature comforts. TV, hot shower, good cooking. Hmmm maybe I'll give those power-line guys a few more hours but it's good to have a back-up plan for my back-up power plan!
